The Lanvernite Succession
Amulet of Kings
The Amulet of Kings is an artifact, lost 700 years ago. It gives tremendous power to a true monarch.
Long ago, King Nathan of Leftwich had but one son Prince Harold, whom he was forced to send to Buckminster as part of a peace treaty. Concerned for his line’s survival, Nathan used most of his kingdom’s remaining treasury to have the Amulet of Kings made by a secretive guild of magical craftsmen, the Whitesmiths. They delivered the amulet to him but doubled the price before revealing the command word. When Nathan balked, the Whitesmiths informed the lord of Buckminster, Lord Waverly. Waverly murdered Prince Harold and invaded Leftwich. Nathan’s army was routed, and knowing defeat was at hand, he sold the amulet as a trinket at the Southstead docks.
Later, an archbishop in Newport acquired the amulet and transfered it to the Greycastle Sorcerers. They held the amulet at their base in central Dartmoor, but when they realized its power, they secured it somewhere far away, in a chamber locked under four portal keys. Then they disbanded, taking the keys to different corners of the realm.
